Luke Shaw has called for the Premier League season to be axed amid the coronavirus crisis if the campaign cannot be finished..”

The domestic season has currently been suspended indefinitely, with voiding the campaign a real possibility.

Liverpool only require two more wins to end their 30-year wait for a league title, while United are chasing down a top four spot and are still involved in two cup competitions.

But Shaw feels United’s rivals should not be awarded the title if they cannot fulfil their remaining fixtures.

Asked how such a situation should be handled, Shaw said on a Combat Corona Twitch FIFA competition :

“Scrap it and start again. Start it again, yeah. It’s gotta be you know. If we can’t carry it on it’s got to be void.”

Shaw added:

“Fans are so important. You realise it even more [now]. I think the sport is for fans really, do you know what I mean? I think if you don’t have fans, and you don’t play in front of fans, it just doesn’t feel right.

“Especially on matchday the fans are always amazing and always help the team. Whether it’s home or even away, our fans are always brilliant and I feel like they’re always there with us.”

UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin also admitted the Champions League and Europa League competitions could be scrapped if they cannot be completed by September.
