United could have a newcomer in Huddlestone in that area soon, however, although he is not likely to sign for the first team.

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reports that United are looking to sign Huddlestone as a “hybrid player,” which means he is going to play for the Under 23 side of the club and also take up a coaching position in the academy.
Huddlestone has been looking for a coaching role since his career ended and this could be the perfect experience to begin with.
He would follow in the footsteps of ex Republic and Sunderland of Ireland Paul McShane. After his release from Rochdale in July 2021, the youth product of United came back to the club as player coach in idea which originated from the head of Academy, Nick Cox.
McShane played a few games for the Under 23’s before retiring and moving into a full time role as a coach for the Professional Development Phase.
Teams are allowed five over-age outfield players as well as one goalkeeper in Premier League 2 fixtures.
Huddlestone would fit the bill and would give United youngsters vital advice on the pitch during matches..
