Ex-liverpool Goalkepper Karius Joins Newcastle On Short-term Deal

Newcastle United signed former Liverpool goalie Loris Karius on a short term deal till January with an option to extend his contract till the end of the season..

Karius had been Liverpool’s goalkeeper in the final of the Champions League in 2018 and was found responsible for two of the goals in their 3 1 defeat of Real Madrid.

Once the Reds acquired Alisson, Karius was sent to Besiktas on loan for 2 seasons and spent the campaign 2020-21 at Union Berlin, likewise on loan.

His deal with Liverpool ran out in June of this season and was ratified by Newcastle on a free transfer..

Karius said: “I’m really excited. “It’s a great opportunity for me and a good project being part of.” It did not take me no time to come to a choice..

The move comes after Newcastle goalie Karl Darlow was hurt during training, therefore Eddie Howe’s team have moved fast to put in a second line of support.
