Chelsea manager Ruben Loftus-Cheek said last month that they wanted to’get Liverpool back ‘when they play Liverpool in the FA Cup final next month..
The Blues saw off Crystal Palace on Sunday to put together the fixture at Wembley against the Reds who defeated Manchester City a day earlier on 14 May.
It is going to be a repeat of last February’s dramatic Carabao Cup final, which Liverpool won on penalties against Chelsea following a goalless draw.
“We would like them back, easy as that,” Loftus-Cheek said.
England’s Loftus Cheek came off of the bench to score Chelsea’s 65th minute opener against Palace, with Mason Mount putting in the next eleven minutes after that.
He added: “It was a terrific game the the first time in the Carabao Cup final,” he said. It might have gone neither way. So we’re looking forward to that and we’re looking forward to our revenge. ”
The goal was Loftus-Cheek’s very first of the season as well as his first for Chelsea since he scored in a 1: 1 Europa League draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in May 2019.
Thomas Tuchel, Blues boss, said he hopes it will give the 26-year-old more confidence to show his talent on a regular basis.
“I think it’s a huge moment for Ruben,” he stated.
“It was good because he is usually a very quiet person and in order to see him like that and jump and celebrate a goal, it was good,” he said.
He is the exact opposite of overconfident, so we need to instill confidence into his body along with his game. ” These are his next steps..
